Photosynthesising Flowerpots
From 9 to 13 April 2024, prototypes of Photosynthesising Flowerpots manufactured in collaboration with KYOTO Design Lab will be on display at the New European Bauhaus Festival in Brussels.
The prototypes are the outcome of a joint research project conducted last summer of 2023 with project researcher Gergely Péter Barna expert in robotic arm programming and digital manufacturing and associate professor Kazutoshi Tsuda and master students Takumi Yoshida, Yasuki Nishimura of KYOTO Design Lab.
To forge a symbiosis between a 3D clay printing robotic arm and cyanobacteria micro-organisms, extrusion techniques and printing processes and strategies for 3D clay printing have been investigated. Focus was mainly on experimental research and hands-on experiments and 3D printing with the KUKA robotic arm.
We are very pleased to showcase these prototypes as part of the second edition the New European Bauhaus Festival which puts focus on “Resources for all” with the aim to bring together people from all walks of life to debate and shape a future that is sustainable, inclusive and beautiful.
Core activities will take place at Parc du Cinquantenaire in Brussels, with satellite events across the European Union and beyond. Subtopics such as shelter and living environments, land and water, fashion and human wellbeing in light of the changing environment will be highlighted during this festival. Aim is to inspire and engage individuals in embracing sustainable choices and fostering a deep connection to the New European Bauhaus movement.
Date: 09-13 April 2024
