Open House Evening

Seemingly for free we do not realize the price that could be attached to our clicks, youtube views and social media activities. Trade your data for money at the bitSoil cash-making market for personal data!
bitSOIL cash-making market for personal data
This performance takes place in the run-up to the exhibition ‘BitREPUBLIC: crossing virtual borders’ that will open in the Gallery Space at Rue de l’Abattoir 4 on May 4 in Brussels. The newest work by LarbitsSisters is an internet based installation combining both online and offline activities. It introduces the visitor to an alternative social model based on the employment of the blockchain technology and the just redistribution of wealth generated by the mass of internet users that up until now has only been accessible to large internet companies such as Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple and Microsoft (GAFAM). It proposes a tax on the use of personal data, on which the virtual currency bitSoil can be based.
An “open house” evening with exhibitions, presentations, open studios and STARTS pop ups!
Opening speeches in presence of Minister of the Government of the Brussels-Capital Region Guy Vanhengel and State Secretary Biance Debaets.
An exhibition of work by Emmanuel Van der Auwera produced during his residency at the Brain & Emotion lab of Professor Beatrice de Gelder at Maastricht University.
